Your future: Employed or self-employed?

Being in the Internet consulting business, we get questions from people how they can use the Internet to earn an extra income. Some would like to eventually be totally self-employed. This is our goal for the coming six months-to be totally self employed. This month we celebrate the first time in our employed life that our Internet consulting business has been able to supplement our day jobs. We want to keep it that way and in about six months to a year totally kiss the corporate employment world goodbye.

So here is one question-what are the different ways you can make an income online? Honest and no-nonsense answer that is. Here is a new program that explains all that. It’s not been launched yet but its coming up in the next few weeks.

Use The Internet To Earn Extra Income

Due to the current economic uncertainties, a lot of people are asking me how one can start an online business. This is obviously due to the lack of confidence in the job market as more companies lay off workers and more layoffs being planned. Create an interest
The first thing in starting an online business is interest. You will be surprise at just how many people want to make it big online but have absolutely no interest in the Internet. You don’t have to spend a lot of time online but it is recommended that first of all, you own a personal computer and an Internet connection. Also, make it a habit to communicate to people online. This is essential because once you start transacting business online, you will be receiving a lot of your customer feedback online and you must be able to reply to the majority of these inquiries.

Find your Niche
So how do you know what you want to do or what you want to sell online? Business 2.0 (or business the 21st century way) doesn’t necessary operate on the premise of you knowing what you want to do and then starting to do it but rather, knowing what the market wants and then supplying it. If you go to Amazon.com, you can check the top ten most purchased books, the New York Times bestsellers can also give you this and so is E-bay. Create a website
Strictly speaking, you don’t have to own a website in order to suppliment your income online, you can sell other people’s products by simply referring people to websites where you are an affiliate. But without a website, you do not have control of a lot of variables. Understandably, many people do not know how to design and maintain websites. Energy Crisis In The Horizon?

There is anticipation in the air that we are entering an energy crisis of some sort with gas prices in the US and indeed the world skyrocketing to unmanageable levels. Just one year ago, the prices were almost $2.00 less than they are today!

Economists are grappling for answers. Is it the rise of the Asia economic giant China? Or is it a combination of China and India? Or are we running out of oil? Saudi Arabia had recently declined to increase production but they finally agreed but the prices still did not go down.

Today the US depends on oil imports to the tune of 70%, a fact that the general American public does not approve (dependency on oil imports was only 30% just 5 years ago).

The US is actually the third largest producer of oil in the world and can potentially be number one if Congress approves the drilling of the US outer continental shelf which Congress estimates to contain almost 100 billion barrels of oil! The Actic wildlife reserve is also said to hold over 10 billion barrels of oil and over 400 trillion cubits of natural gas. One of the reasons why Congress is holding back on drilling is so that the US can explore altenative energy sources. There is also politics involved. If the US drilled their own oil they would trade less with the Middle East which would then turn and sell more to US enemies. If the US was to refuse to buy Middle Eastern oil then their economies would go into shock consequently causing anti-US sentiments to rise.

But the forces clammering for the US to start drilling the in the Arctic and in Alaska are getting louder as more and more US families report that the current prices of gasoline are becoming a financial burden. They feel that if there was ever a time we needed altenative energy sources, that time is now. But as Senator Obama said, even if the drilling started now, the economy would not feel the impact of that action for the next five years.

Friends, brace yourself. It looks like instead of exploring altenative energy sources we need to be exploring altenative income resources.

Mugabe’s insane legacy-”Let me be a Hitler”

If there was ever going to be a post-independence African success story that could in some form or fashion rival that of Kenya, it was Zimbabwe formerly known as Rhodesia. Since its independence in 1980, Zimbabwe has had one of the strongest economies in Africa and its soil is rich in gold, iron and aluminum ore. But Zim has witnessed a systematic destruction of its economic foundations in the name of “Africanizing” the country.

Under Mugabe’s leadership, the government forcefully evicted thousands of white farmers from their land and apportioned them to the “natives” (actually a lot of it went to Mugabe’s cronies). Then there was the destruction of squatter dwellings in the city of Harare rendering thousands homeless and sparking a vast humanitarian crisis.

Then there was the infamous March 29, 2008 election where the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ruled that the two main contenders for the country’s presidency, the incumbent Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Morgan Tsivangari, did not garner enough votes to avoid a run-off which will take place on June 27, 2008.

Mugabe has done a good job of hiding what has been happening inside Zim from the world. Reporters are highly regulated, the Internet almost completely decommissioned and widespread reports of harassment intimidation being heard every day.

The whole cyclone that is the turmoil in Zim revolves around the leadership (or lack thereof) of non other than strongman Robert Gabriel Mugabe who is so determined to maintain the current choke-hold on power that he has unleashed a wave of terror reminiscent of the days of the war between ZANU and ZIPRA (Joshua Nkomo) where unspeakable atrocities were committed by both sides against innocent civilians. So Mugabe is no stranger to blood and has stood defiant, even now against world opposition to his economic and human rights policies which today have plunged Zimbabwe into an abyss of misery and dilemma.

Even the Christian fraternity in Zimbabwe and around the world has not been spared. Consider some of these statements:

“We band you (Christians) together with them (Westerners), damn you together with them, and do not blame us when we do that”

How about this one:

“This Hitler has only one objective: justice for his people, sovereignty for his people, recognition of the independence of his people and their rights over their resources… If that is Hitler, then let me be a Hitler tenfold (In a speech at funeral of Dr Swithun Mombeshora in March 2003)

While Hitler eventually attracted the wrath of the international community leading up to the invasion of Nazi Germany, Mugabe is quickly gathering a storm of international criticism. With 85% unemployment, 750,000% inflation which is the world’s highest next to Burma, indiscriminate killings of opposition followers and mass starvation of whole sections of the country which he considers opposition hot-beds, Mugabe is sitting on a time-bomb and the inevitable is unfolding. More and more countries are now joining in the chorus that is telling the 80 plus year-old Mugabe, who numerically lost the March election to Tsivangari, that evidence is being compiled to used in a possible future war-crimes trial. With Africa arising, one of the inevitable tides the current crop of leadership is going to encounter is the wrath of the masses of eliteand enlightened youth who are tired of generations of an economic and social raw deal.

While Mugabe idolizes Hitler, I hope he remembers Hitler’s fate……………….
